Our Story

About Light Capture Inverter Hub

Who We Are

Eight Years. 48 Countries. One Mission.

Light Capture Inverter Hub began in 2018 as a single photographer's journal, written from a rented apartment in Kyoto between rainstorms. It has since grown into one of the world's most widely-read photography travel platforms.

Today, Light Capture Inverter Hub is a team of twelve photographers, writers, and editors based across Tokyo, London, Nairobi, and New York. We publish new content weekly — destination guides, gear reviews, technique articles, and the personal journals that have always been at the heart of what we do.

We are independent, reader-supported, and driven by a genuine love of photography and travel. We do not take advertising. We do not publish sponsored destinations. Every recommendation in our journal is based on first-hand experience.

Our Principles

What We Believe

01
Authenticity First
Every image in the Light Capture Inverter Hub journal is captured in the field, unmanipulated, and represents what was actually there. We believe in photography as honest witness.
02
Responsible Travel
We advocate for low-impact, respectful photography travel — including local guides, avoiding sensitive wildlife situations, and supporting the communities we document.
03
Education & Generosity
All of our technique articles, gear guides, and destination tips are free. We believe knowledge should flow freely through the photography community.
04
Long-Form Storytelling
We resist the compression of travel photography into Instagram moments. Our journals take the time to tell complete stories about places and the people who inhabit them.
05
Editorial Independence
Light Capture Inverter Hub is reader-funded and entirely independent. We accept no advertising, sponsored content, or destination press trips. Our recommendations are our own.
06
Craft Over Speed
We publish less than most, but better. Every article goes through multiple editorial revisions. We would rather publish one great essay than ten adequate ones.
